When human forces discover the existence of the Vampire and Lycan clans, a war to eradicate both species commences. The vampire warrioress Selene leads the battle against humankind. "Underworld Awakening" brings a stunning new dimension to the epic battle between Vampires and Lycans, as the first film in the franchise to shoot in 3D.
Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species. -- (C) Official Site
Kate Beckinsale returns on January 20th as our heroine, Selene. The franchise has a pretty well established fanbase and admittedly, I know a lot of people that are eagerly awaiting this one. For me personally, I’ll be honest, I’m kind of eager as well. Yet again, we get to see Kate in black latex, flashing her fangs at werewolves and throwing a lot of sharp instruments. In 3-D. Plan on a lot of slow-motion sequences.
Selene looks as sexy as ever, the stylized fighting is back and the excessive slow-mo looks to make a return as well. Really, this is just more of the same but when it comes to the Underworld series, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
